Hiro Matsuda was born in Japan, but became a star outside of his home country. He developed his submission wrestling style while in Mexico, but really made his name in the United States. He was able to capture the most prestigious version of the World Junior Heavyweight Title from Danny Hodge, and the rivalry between the two helped define the technical Junior Heavyweight style. He eventually settled in Florida and eventually became one of the most respected and toughest trainers in the sport. His list of trainees is a veritable who’s who of pro wrestling.
