Two legends of Indies wrestling will make their long-awaited color debut in Summer 2024 Indies Promoter Prime as the late Trent Acid and Johnny Kashmere, The Backseat Boyz, will bring their spectacular tag team wrestling to Indies Pro Prime in 2024.
Acid and Kashmere began wrestling as a tag team in 2000 for CZW. The team, which mixed Acid’s technical ability and Kashmere’s high-flying style, quickly won that promotion’s tag team titles, which they would hold on two occasions. During The Backseat Boyz’s time in CZW they had ring-rattling feuds with the Briscoe Brothers (Jay and Mark Briscoe), and Nick Mondo. The duo then moved onto Ring of Honor, winning the ROH tag team titles on one occasion, making them the first tag team to hold both the CZW and ROH tag team titles.
Kashmere, now 45, who was trained by Filsinger Games Legends of Wrestling stars Pitbull #1 and Pitbull #2, and Acid, who was trained by some of the top trainers in the Northeastern U.S., including Steve Corino and Reckless Youth, teamed together in multiple U.S. Indies winning multiple tag team titles, until Acid’s untimely death in 2010. In April of 2024, Acid was posthumously inducted by his longtime tag team partner Johnny Kashmere into the Independent Wrestling Hall of Fame.
