The Canadian wrestling scene was no stranger to big names, but one of the biggest of the late 50s was undoubtedly Yukon Eric. Though Eric wrestled for many different territories throughout his career, Southern Ontario was home. Not only did he win multiple championships and capture the hearts of fans, but he also took part in the first televised wrestling match in Canada against his heated rival, Killer Kowalski. Eric and Kowalski’s rivalry ignited after Kowalski separated Eric from his ear with a knee drop. Eric was known for wrestling barefoot in blue jeans with a clothesline for a belt, and his enormous chest repelled attacks from numerous opponents – especially those coming at him from the ropes. He often finished off opponents with his dreaded Kodiak Krunch – relying on his supreme upper body strength to grind foes into submission. Fans, promoters, and fellow wrestlers also have memories of his incredible strength – some going so far as to say he was the strongest wrestler they’d ever seen. Eric had runs in Texas, Minnesota, St. Louis, California, and Florida in addition to his time in Canada and claimed titles wherever he went, including several tag championships. Eric even had challenged for the richest prize in the game multiple times against champions Lou Thesz and Dick Hutton. Whether wrestling on his own or teaming with a partner, Yukon Eric is a legendary figure sure to impose his will on many a hapless heel in your territory, promoter!
